Chargers LB compares Jim Harbaugh to comedy legend

Linebacker Denzel Perryman rejoined the Los Angeles Chargers in March for his second run with the franchise and will be joined by first-year head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Perryman shared an interesting comparison on Monday, saying that Harbaugh reminded him of one particular comedy legend.

According to a report by Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith, the 2021 Pro Bowler didn't say that Harbaugh was necessarily similar to one of Will Ferrell's acting roles, but he did mention one of his iconic movies.

"Just Will Ferrell in general," Perryman said. "Step Brothers is a good one. I don’t know, man. He’s just giving Will Ferrell vibes. I don’t know if it’s his tone of voice or the way he talks in general, but the first thing that comes to my head is Will Ferrell. I mean, I do take him seriously. Everything he says, I take seriously though. But when he does joke around, I start cracking up in my seat."

The former 2015 second-round pick of the then-San Diego Chargers added that Harbaugh's mannerisms make him think of the "Saturday Night Live" alum.

"I don’t know if it’s the way that he talks, his analogies and everything, but they really remind me of Will Ferrell. It’s just funny to me. It’s funny, but I know he means well, like everything comes from the heart. I feel like you have to have a sense of humor to understand his lines and gimmicks. But I love it. I love him as a coach and I love the direction he’s got us going in."

The younger Harbaugh brother was hired by the Chargers on Jan. 24 after serving as the University of Michigan's head coach since the 2015 season. Before that, Harbaugh spent four seasons as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-14.

During his four seasons in the Bay Area, Harbaugh earned one AP Coach of the Year honor and led the team to one Super Bowl appearance and three playoff berths.

In his nine years with the Wolverines, Harbaugh won an AP Coach of the Year Award and Big Ten Coach of the Year honor while capturing four bowl game victories, including a national championship in January.
