The Atlanta Hawks are rumored to be shopping Clint Capela this summer because they have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, which they will likely use to pick Alex Sarr from France.

Alex Sarr figures to be the best player in this year’s draft class. The 19-year-old center is coming off a solid campaign, playing for the Perth Wildcats in the NBL in Australia, finishing 2023-24 with averages of 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game on 51.6 percent shooting from the field and 71 percent from the free throw line.

As his offensive numbers suggest, Alex Sarr is not the most offensively polished prospect in the draft, but his defensive upside and unique physical profile put him above the rest of the pack in most mock drafts.

Alex Sarr will be an additional lob threat for the Atlanta Hawks, but there’s more room for him to grow on the offensive end. If he can improve and develop his outside shot, Sarr can turn to someone like Jaren Jackson Jr. or Evan Mobley, which gives the team another foundational piece alongside Trae Young and Dejounte Murray.

Alex Sarr on what he’ll bring to the table for the Atlanta Hawks

Alex Sarr recently appeared on SiriusXM NBA Radio to talk about being potentially picked by the Atlanta Hawks with the No. 1 overall pick of this summer’s NBA Draft. During the episode, he said he envisions himself as a “positionless guy” in the NBA.

“I think being the number one pick is being first in your class. I’m a competitor and that’s what I want,” Sarr said.

“I see myself more as a positionless guy. Like, a couple plays you have to play the five and be down in the dunker’s spot, and a couple plays you’re bringing the ball up and initiating the action,” he added.
